Commissioner Merle Heatwole is the National Commander of The Salvation Army in the United States of America. His wife, Commissioner Dawn Heatwole, serves as the National Secretary for Program. They assumed these appointments on March 1, 2025.
Immediately preceding this appointment Merle served as Territorial Commander in the Latin America North Territory based in Costa Rica and comprised of ten Latin American countries including, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela.
