The conversation digs deep into their first case, Two Horse Sleigh, a Texas homicide in which a woman named Nancy was found dead in a horse stall with sharp force injuries to her throat. Three separate law enforcement agencies dismissed the findings of board-certified forensic pathologist Dr. Patricia Moore and insisted the horse was responsible. The suspected killer, Jose Fernando Bustos Diaz, later murdered a second woman, was convicted, escaped from prison with a fellow inmate, and remains at large to this day.
